Frequently Asked Questions

What are the costs

The cost for an Occupational Therapist is in line with the NDIS price guidelines and is:$193.99 &  $86.79 an hour for Allied Health Assistants.

Do you have a discount for privately paying clients who are out of pocket?

Our goal is to help all families access occupational therapy services for their child. We offer a 20% discount to families who have no funding options and would otherwise have to pay out of pocket.

What are the costs for Full Functional Capacity Reports?

Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) are comprehensive evaluations that determine an individual's functional needs, guide interventions, and support funding applications. They provide a clear understanding of the individual's support needs across various environments, equipment recommendations, and required capacity building funding. The duration and focus of an FCA depend on the individual's age, diagnosis, and the degree of informal support already in place, typically taking 6-10+ hours. For children, this may include assessing skills across home, education, and play settings.

What are non face-to-face costs?

Occupational therapists perform different tasks indirectly, which may involve interacting with different stakeholders like Support Coordinators, family members, caregivers, and members of a multidisciplinary team. These tasks may include writing letters, care team meetings, reports and other documentation on behalf of the participant, as well as researching specific needs, conditions, and appropriate interventions as needed. The therapist's time spent on these tasks is billed accordingly. Your OT will let you know if they need to complete non face to face tasks.

What happens when we can't make a scheduled appointment?

For a short notice cancellation, 100% of the fee associated with the scheduled session will be charged. Short notice is less than two (2) clear business days’ notice.

If  you cant make your scheduled appointment, and your appointment can be rescheduled before the next scheduled appointment, no cancellation fee will apply. Instead of the appointment, the therapist can utilize the canceled session time to develop resources for the client, offer parent coaching sessions, or write reports with the consent of the parent/guardian. Please speak to your OT if needed.

If your OT needs to cancel an appointment, we will try to provide as much notice as we can. Our aim is to promptly reschedule appointments or when suitable, organize for another therapist to take the session. Our team have handover documents ready in case this is needed. The administrative team will contact the family by phone to discuss their preferences.

Please note you will receive a reminder text message the day before your scheduled appointment, the text is set for a last-minute reminder of your appointment time, not for the purposes of a late cancellation, cancellations at this point are still likely to incur a late cancellation fee.

Do I need to sign a Service Agreement?

Although not mandatory, the NDIS strongly advises having a service agreement in place to ensure both participants and providers have a clear understanding of their agreed terms. This document specifies the terms of service, such as service fees and payment conditions and is evidence of informed consent which is a requirement as a health professional.

Therapy4life will send you a Service Agreement online for digital signing. This does not lock you into anything, you can finish sessions at any time you chose. Just be mindful of the 48 hour cancellation fee.

Do you see clients at home or school?

At times, it can be crucial to observe a child in their home or school environment to tailor goals that are practical and customized to meet the needs of the child and their unique circumstances. Therapy4life works with Sams 4 Schools to fulfill school visit documentation and regulations. With your consent, we will coordinate with the school, kindergarten, or childcare center.

What other OT services do you do?

Therapy4life can assist you with functional capacity reports, prescribing equipment, writing letters, assessments and reports required for NDIS purposes. We may be able to assist you with housing reports and some home modifications. Please speak to your OT regarding any specific needs.

Do you have a waitlist?

To inquire about our waiting lists, please contact us. We take into account location and preferred days and times to ensure the best match with our flexible team. Please note that we are currently unable to accept new adult clients as we have reached our capacity.

What does it mean to be a neuro affirming practice?

A neurodiversity-affirming approach recognizes that all neurotypes have unique strengths, interests, and support needs. It emphasizes the role of the environment and societal barriers in exacerbating challenges faced by neurodivergent individuals. The goal of neuro-affirming therapy is to embrace the uniqueness and strengths of neurodivergent children and provide them and their families with the skills, tools, and strategies to improve participation within their environments. This involves understanding and respecting neurodivergent communication styles, accommodating individual sensory needs, and promoting self-advocacy and problem-solving skills. It also involves validating children's feelings, recognizing their triggers, and identifying calming strategies, while encouraging safe self-regulation skills and adopting neurodiversity-affirming language.
